How to Upload An Email Verification File
Format Your File to CSV
When optimizing your file in Excel, there are 2 things you must do:
- Always ensure the column containing email addresses has the title “Email”.
- When you SAVE your file, change your file type to a CSV comma delimited file.
Uploading Via The User Dashboard
To Batch Upload your file, click the Batch Upload button on the left of your dashboard screen.
Remember, before uploading in any way, ensure your file is correctly formatted as mentioned in the previous section.
Next, you’ll see a screen that looks like this:
From here, you have 4 methods of uploading your file (as listed on the left of the screen):
- From your computer
- From FTP
- From Cloud
- Connect to ESP (via integration)
Let’s explore each of these and how to use them.
From Your Computer
When uploading a csv file from your computer, you’ll see the screen shown above. You have the option to either select a file to upload by clicking the orange “Add Files” button or drag and drop a file directly into the grey box. Once you’ve selected or dropped your file, you’ll click the orange “Submit” button at the bottom right.
After your file is uploaded, you can see the status of your file at the bottom of the screen:
Once the file has completed the process, you can analyze the file by clicking the orange arrow button on the right hand side, as shown below.
You can read your generated report and see how many email addresses fall into various email statuses. An example is shown below:
From here, you have the option to download the report via the orange “Download” button on the right, or you can delete the report by clicking the orange “Delete” button below the “Download” button.
If you wish to download your file, you will see the following pop up screen:
From here you can select to download only the Valid email addresses, only the Invalid email addresses, only the Unknown email addresses, or the Full File. Just click the selection you’d like to download. The file will immediately download to your computer.
Now, we’ll look at the other email address upload methods:
Before using any upload services, always ensure your csv file is formatted correctly. Once this is done, you can select the desired upload method – in this case, we’ll upload via FTP. When using the FTP option, you’ll click “From FTP” on the left side of the screen and you will see the below fields:
From here, you’ll input your FTP credentials including:
- file path
Please ensure everything is entered correctly. Once we have the credentials, we are able to access the server, locate the file, and we run it through our verification services.
Once the file is uploaded, you will be able to see it in the “Lists Uploaded and Completed” section below the Upload area, as shown in the “From Computer” upload description section.
As always, before starting your upload, please ensure your csv file is formatted correctly. For information on this, please scroll to the top of this page.
If you’d like to upload a file directly from your Cloud service, such as Google Drive, Dropbox, or One Drive, please click “From Cloud” on the list seen on the left. Once you click “From Cloud”, you will see the following options:
After connecting your Cloud account, you’ll be able to click on the “Details” option next to it.
This will take you into your cloud account and the files will populate on the screen, as shown below:
You can then click on the “Get Contents” link, and navigate until you reach your desired file. Once you reach your file you wish to upload, click the “Verify List” link on the right, and we will begin running your file.
As with the other forms of uploading a list, you can see its progress in the “Lists Uploaded & Completed” section at the bottom of the page.
It bears repeating: please ensure your csv file is formatted correctly before beginning your upload with us! For more information on this, please scroll to the top of this page.
To begin uploading via an ESP, click the “From ESP” option on the left. Here, you will see a variety of ESPs Xverify integrates with. If you do not see yours on the list, please use another uploading option for your list.
Click the “Connect” option to the right of the ESP you wish to use. You’ll see a pop up that asks for an API key, as shown below in the MailChimp example.
You’ll enter the API key credentials, and click “Login” at the bottom right. Once successfully connected, you’ll see the ESP logo appear on your screen with available lists to verify. Select which list to verify by clicking the orange “Verify List” button on the right.
From here, a pop-up window will appear with three options, as shown below. You can select one of the following:
- Clean File
- Clean and Update
Make your selection, and the file will be placed into the queue.
Please note, to use the same integration and api key in the future, simply select the integration connection from the options in the left hand side of the Batch Upload dashboard. The new integration will populate below the other upload options, as shown below:
